Compass Minerals Sporting Fields is the official plant nutrition provider of Sporting Kansas City. Based in Overland Park, Kansas, Compass Minerals produces and packages magnesium chloride, a common ingredient in deicing salt. The company’s specialty turf products are applied to the fields of Children’s Mercy Park, Sporting’s home stadium. In addition to these fields, the Compass Minerals National Performance Center uses its deicing products for the stadium’s artificial turf and natural grass.
The renaming of Compass Minerals’ sports facilities is part of an expansion of the company’s sponsorship of the soccer team. Beginning in 2020, the company’s logo will be featured on the front of all SKC jerseys and sleeve caps. As the official salt and plant nutrition provider of Sporting Kansas City Compass Minerals also has the opportunity to continue to support the team’s philanthropic efforts.
